NEW CAR REGISTRATION IN GHANA

To register a vehicle in Ghana, you have to visit any DVLA approved center across Ghana, or you can visit their website to complete their online process.

STEP-BY-STEP CAR REGISTRATION IN GHANA GUIDE

  1. A service request needs to be sent to DVLA for proof and verification of your vehicle information and records.
  2. An appointment notice will be sent to you.
  3. A registration process then begins, where a service fee is required to be paid. 
  4. DVLA then proceeds by reviewing your documents and physically inspecting your vehicle.
  5. A vehicle registration number is issued which is encoded electronically and validated.
  6. After this step, in less than 48 hours your vehicle number plate is ready.
  7. You are then contact back by DVLA to present the vehicle for fixing and activating right on the spot.

CAR ROADWORTHY AND INSURANCE IN GHANA

Roadworthy is referred as a vehicle which is safe, meets legal requirements, functional conditions, to be driven on public roads.

In Ghana, a roadworthy certificate is an electronic document and physical sticker that proves a vehicle has met all the minimum mechanical and safety standards or measures required to use public roads.

This certificate is issued by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) after a technical inspection is been carried out at any authorized centers or Private Vehicle Test Station (PVTS).
